Privacy

This page explains what the site collects and why.

Last updated:

Project inquiries

The contact form collects your name, email address, organization, and message so the Collective can review and answer your inquiry. The site also records limited request details used to detect spam, including the source page, IP address, browser information, and form completion time.

Email updates

If you request updates, the site records your email address, signup page, consent status, and confirmation history. The Collective sends updates only after you confirm your email. Every update includes a way to unsubscribe.

Storage and service providers

The Collective stores information submitted through the site for the purposes described above. Service providers that support site operations and email delivery may process this information on the Collective’s behalf. The Collective does not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

Site analytics

The site uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use it. Clarity records page views, clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement, along with browser and device information and an approximate location derived from your IP address, and turns them into heatmaps and session recordings. The contact and email update forms are masked, so what you type into them is not sent to Clarity. Clarity does not run on the pages opened from email unsubscribe links.

Clarity operates on this site without analytics or advertising cookies. It treats each page view as a separate visit and does not connect your visits over time. This limits some Clarity features. The Collective does not use Clarity for advertising. Clarity keeps recordings for up to 30 days, except for recordings marked as favorites and a random sample, which it keeps for up to 9 months.

Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Clarity supports the Global Privacy Control browser signal, and you can opt out of Clarity on every site that uses it through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.

Retention and requests

Contact inquiries are normally kept for up to 24 months. Request details used for spam review are cleared after 90 days. Subscriber records are kept while a subscription is active, and an opt-out record may be retained so the preference can be honored.
